NHK for School Clip Review

One of my favorite websites for Japanese materials to watch is NHK for School, which has a variety of educational videos (which typically are 1 to 10 minutes long) covering many topics. They have everything from general life videos to science to music to math, and they have many interesting short videos to watch.

This week, I chose to watch a video on earthquakes. Kumamoto, where my grandparents live, was significantly impacted by an earthquake in 2016, and continues to try to rebuild. Here is a picture of a bridge in Kumamoto that was destroyed by the earthquake-- it shows not only how powerful the earthquake was but also the impact it continues to have on the people of Kumamoto.

This video was not only about the cause of all of the earthquakes in Japan, but also contained a general timeline of significant earthquakes over the past several decades.

I would highly recommend watching NHK for School videos for short educational (and free) Japanese content! Here is the link: https://www.nhk.or.jp/school/

そうですね、くまもとで大きいじしんがありましたよね。私は学会(がっかいconference)できょ年くまもとに行きましたが、とてもいい町でした。いつかあそにも行きたいです。
